England v Russia Euro 2016 Betting Tips 10/06/16

England had an outstanding European Qualifying campaign which saw them win all of their games (10/10) and top the overall leader board. Add to this that they have won every friendly game (bar one) since topping their group and England fans definitely have something to smile about.

With so much young talent and new faces to the team, which is due in part to the success of Leicester and Spurs performances in the Premier League this season, it’s difficult not to get excited about their chances.

Jamie Vardy has been a revelation this season for Leicester and looks to take that work-rate and winning mentality with him to France. Roy has also been blessed with Harry Kane’s performance for Spurs which saw the striker as the top goalscorer in the league with 24 goals.

Roy has taken a gamble on some players such as Jordan Henderson, Jack Wilshire and Daniel Sturridge who have all have trouble with injuries and maintaining fitness at some point throughout the season. History has shown that betting on players reputation rather than on their current fitness rarely pays off.

England fans have been let down many times over the years, can this competition be different?

Newer players to look out for include PFA Young Player of the year Dele Alli who can provide a lot of pace and energy going forward. Eric Dier is another talented Spurs midfielder, intelligent at reading the game and was instrumental at beating Germany in the friendly in March.

Russia’s road to France hit a couple of bumps with back to back losses to Austria but they ended the qualifying round in second spot. Artem Dzyuba addition to the squad and team focal point has paid off very well with the Zenit man slotting four goals past Liechtenstein.

Dzyuba has made a big impact since joining the Russian nation team.

The loss of Valencia’s Denis Cheryshev and CSKA Moscow’s Alan Dzagoev due to injury towards the end of the season will be a huge loss to head coach Leonid Slutsky and it will be difficult for the Russian’s to dominate the midfield without them.

England would look to be favourites for this game given their current run of form, but previous results have shown that they appear to self-destruct when it comes to major competitions. Russia will not be a walk-over but that said they are missing key players in midfield which will give England an advantage. We expect to see a cagey first half but with England building into the game and taking three points in the second half.
