So this weekend F1 are in China for the Singapore GP for the start of the Asia tour and the only race to held during twilight before the floodlights come on. The Marina Bay is a tight street circuit with arm-coe barriers and not many run-off areas. Due to the short straights and complex tight bends and chicanes, engine performance is less critical, so we’re likely to see a more competitive race. Tyre wear should be minimal so you could see some drivers taking a chance on 1 stop strategies.
The weather on Saturday for the Singapore GP is forecast dry and sunny. But Sunday is predicted heavy rain which means the teams will have to adapt to changing weather conditions.
New engine and recent upgrades plus a recent run of form will put Lewis as the bookies favourite. But Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen were a surprise to finish Friday Second Practice (FP2) in an impressive first and second, Kvyat with a fastest lap of 1:46:141. Lewis Hamilton could only reach fourth quickest while Nico was way down in seventh.
From the outside it looks like Mercedes are struggling here so it might be worth taking a punt and betting on the outsiders before the odds start to narrow.
